It is officially the month of loooooove
So what better way to celebrate than by incorporating some love songs into your piano lessons?

Did you have a favorite song pop in your head when you read love songs (or maybe even a few!) Even narrowing down my list to 10 was pretty difficult! My curiosity had to know how many love songs have actually been written and Google let me know that over 100 million have been recorded
We love to love our love songs – right?

Hmmm, what is it about love songs that continually draw us in? I recently read this quote from a music professor in Georgia that said:
“We all have an idea of what love is, and could be, and it’s comforting to experience a sense of ourselves in popular culture. Music is an important way of relating to others, to express our feelings and emotions when we can’t find the right words for ourselves.”
I feel like I couldn’t have said it better myself

Love songs have existed for hundreds of years, and the words and music still are powerful, be it a 2016 top hit or a 19th century composition. Experiencing true love makes us better people, whether it’s from our parents, a partner, friendships, or our children. And being able to relate to that kind of love in a song is really, really special
Soooo, without further adieu, here are 10 of my favorite love songs to play on piano! These are also great songs to teach for recitals or just to add to the bank of “favorite piano songs.” I’ve included the link and the sheet music for some of these pieces.
And remember, just like ANY skill, learning to play the piano takes time. Don’t give up, focus on the basics of piano, and then strive to keep on improving! You got this!
