What Is The Pop Song Mini Course?

Teaching the fundamentals of piano is not always fun – and that’s just the honest truth! To be real with you, I can’t reallllly fault kids for not wanting to practice piano! (I KNOW.. that sounds crazy coming from me!!🙈😱) BUT it’s all about the way you teach it! Personally, I remember being a young girl and falling in love with learning all the classical pieces BUT I know that is not typically the case for other kids. In fact, I’ve learned over the years that kids would much rather learn music that they know and love, which totally makes sense! I also remember not liking my first piano teacher and it almost led me to quit playing…

As I was teaching piano, it was breaking 💔 my heart to think of my students that were missing out on all the joy and fun of playing piano. I knew I HAD to come up with something to convert the piano quitters into piano lovers….🤔

Enter: The Pop Song Method! A Fun Piano Method For Kids 🎹🎵🥳

My mission has always been to make learning the piano FUN for my students, and my favorite way to do that is by learning their interests and connecting the piano to their life. And how does one do that? By teaching POP SONGS, of course!! 😍😍

So, What is the Pop Song Mini Course?

Short Version? It’s the fun way to learn and play piano!

With access to the mini course, you will receive training on our Pop Song Method that teaches students to play any song they want by learning how to type out songs using letters with their current chord knowledge.

It takes away the frustration when it comes to reading music notes and rhythm. This method of teaching is a way to help students feel seen, get more involved, and be more willing to learn. 🤩🙌🏼

This is our most sought after method that reveals to teachers how to teach and pick up on ANY pop song by ear. You’ll start to see your students feel empowered 💪 as they learn to play their favorite songs!

But, does the Pop Song Method replace traditional sheet music?

No, of course not!! I believe it is SO important to incorporate BOTH. Just because you are teaching ear training, doesn’t mean they are going to stop reading traditional sheet music. If anything, it will motivate them to learn it more as they keep gaining confidence. Once they are confident in playing, they will pick up on sheet music easily! I believe it’s important that students learn the building blocks of playing piano – but it’s also just as important to make playing piano fun!! If you want to learn more about why I incorporate the pop song method, along with traditional sheet music, check out this blog post!

Tessa’s Pop Song Success

Tessa is one of my newer students and unfortunately, was just NOT enjoying piano. In fact, she was on the brink of quitting after 10 years! 😱 I began training her in my pop song method and to say she has absolutely fallen in love with playing piano is an understatement. Gooosh, it just makes my heart sing! 💓🎵
“My daughter has played piano for several years but it wasn’t until she met Tara that she actually started to enjoy piano. It used to be a chore for Tessa to practice piano but after working with Tara for just a few lessons, her love of music and the piano truly blossomed. I now, actually, have to tell her to stop and go to bed. After working with Tara, Tessa has decided to enroll in the music program at her high school. We tried three different piano teachers before we met Tara and she was a game changer for my daughter. I highly recommend Tara and wish I had found her sooner!”

Incorporating the Pop Song Method (which is really just easy piano sheets with letters) into your lessons just might be what your students need to get them motivated to practice the piano! Teaching traditional piano lessons with the Pop Song Method is the perfect combination in helping students become well rounded musicians who love piano and stick with it for life. Trust me, I’ve seen it with my own two eyes. 😉💗

I could go on forever about the Pop Song Method! In fact, most of my success as a piano teacher has come from this method. Kids want to play and sing the songs they know and love, and being able to learn by ear will give them the confidence to keep growing as a musician!
