Thanksgiving is just around the corner and we want to share our gratitude for all Cascade Method members and students we’ve been graced to teach and certify.
My purpose of Cascade Method started out as something so small and continues to grow into something much larger and significant than I originally imagined. The only thing I’ve ever wanted to do is help people to understand the beauty and fun that’s within playing the piano. Thanks to my customers, students, and cascade-certified teachers, I’ve been able to live out that purpose. For that, I am forever grateful.
A new decade is around the corner. I am fired up thinking of the expansion and growth that can happen within the years to come for Cascade Method. In honor of the thankful season, I want to take a moment to share the sweet messages and stories that I have experienced since establishing this business.
It’s a true blessing to get to do what you love for a living. But the best part is playing a role in keeping piano alive. That’s all I’ve ever wanted to do: make people feel the love for piano that I have always felt.
This is what keeps Cascade Method going…
It’s not easy to build a brand, especially in an industry that seems to be outdated to the masses. Most people make the assumption that piano has to continue to be taught traditionally but I’ve always said it’s just evolving. The piano can be a fun, lively instrument. It’s all about who is pressing on the keys!
After years of playing piano, teaching kids as I grew up, and paying my way through college, I realized that I created my own method. I knew how to keep students engaged and excited about learning the piano. I wanted nothing more than to share it with the world! I wanted to give the piano all the credit it deserves.
In 2016, with all the research, notes, experience, and random teaching skills that I had accumulated over the years, I formulated an entire program, which you know as Cascade Method.
Now, I receive messages on how my program is helping other teachers and hundreds of students to enjoy the piano again. That is what keeps this going.
“Tara has written a wonderful companion for the beginner student. This is more than a theory book! It’s built in motivation! Kids love the coloring in and color coding everything when it comes to music! Tara has really taken some difficult concepts and made them enjoyable and colorful for kids of all ages! Cascade Method has been so supportive from the very beginning. She is on top of giving you the most top notch, personal support I’ve seen anywhere! The NoteMatch tool they offer has been the most important tool I use in my studio with all piano students, I even use it with my vocal students. The fun pop songs Tara writes are instant hits in my studio amongst my teen students and I can always find inspiration in her method. I highly recommend you give cascade method a try, your students will love you for it!” – Anna’s Music Studio
What you can expect from Cascade Method: Resources, Guidance, and Passion
I used to think that I should keep my method to myself otherwise someone might “take” it from me and claim it as their own. Then I realized… it doesn’t matter!
If more people are teaching piano with my method then I’m converting more piano quitters into piano lovers! It’s literally impossible for me to teach every student that I come in contact with so I knew that I needed to share my ways so that more students had the same opportunity to be exposed to piano the right way- the fun way!
Just last month, we offered free Halloween worksheets and they were such a hit! Hearing the gratitude and success that other teachers were having with Cascade Method worksheets made me smile from ear to ear. Check out this email I received from one of the teachers in my coaching program:
“The Halloween pieces (as well as the white key pieces on Tara’s website) are AMAZING to use with beginner students! having the letter names helps them be able to play “hard” songs in a much easier way and helps them feel like “big stuff” in front of their friends and family! Teagan’s duet is so nice to have with the letter names AND the notation part so different level students can play the SAME COOL SONG!!!” Next week I will use the Halloween duets with sibling groups that varying levels so the older student can play the teacher part and the student can play the treble clef part!. Thank you Tara for putting these together for us to use as teachers!”

Leslie has also been using the Cascade Method Piano Theory Book and NoteMatch to help coach her two students that are 16 years old to become PIANO TEACHERS! I love that young students are learning the fun way to become piano teachers. Amazing!
Once your students learn the Cascade Method, they are musicians for life.
I truly believe that this method can shift any student into a piano lover. I have put my heart and soul into this program. Watching it grow is one of the best things I’ve been blessed to witness. I can’t wait to see what this new year brings and the endless amount of students and teachers that come through this training. We’re just getting started, friends!

“It’s been great using The Cascade Method! Over half of my students now have the book, some have NoteMatch. They ordered from Amazon with free shipping. I have one student (15-year-old with Aspergers— never talks), did his chords in 20 seconds, hitting all the correct notes!
They love the playlist module and one student wrote her first song on CDE! I’ve also noticed students are not struggling with note names as much as before now that we are using NoteMatch. Thank you for your time and many teaching ideas.” – Mary Ely
“Cascade Method has truly helped me increase excitement about the piano for myself and students within my studio. Since joining the Cascade Method membership, playing and CREATING at the piano has become an even greater joy to me. Tara has organized the concepts of music theory in a way I’ve never seen before, and this is a very good thing! I’m able to grasp and apply it all in a way that gives me confidence and, again, excitement!” – Aubree’s Piano Studio
